Exams are over, Hurray! I am feeling so relaxed now, so though of writing a post in continuation with my last post about Web Analytics.
Before giving you second doze, let me give you some highlights about my last post on Web Analytics Basic. In my last post, I gave you insight about what is Web Analytics is and how can it help you in e-business. I am sure you now must have clear idea about the web analytics basic, if still not; you read my recent post here.
I am sure you must be curious how to gather data about your online visitor, aren’t you? So today let me show you how can you gather data in the simplest way (through Google Analytics). Google provides the complete data about your website visitor through Page Tagging method.
To get your visitor data via Google Analytics all you must have is a website and a Google login account (it can be gmail account, yahoo, hotmail or any other email account). Once you have it, just follow the below mentioned simple steps:
- Go to https://www.google.com/analytics/
- Login with your Google login account
- Register your website by firing a click to “Add Website Profile”, located at the left bottom of page
- Enter your website details and click on “Finish”
- This will give you the a code [Code will be in 2 format; New Tracking Code (ga.js) and Legacy Tracking Code (urchin.js). You can choose code from either tab]. To get compiled and updated feature, I recommend you to install ga.js code.
- Copy that code and paste it into every webpage you want to track, immediately before the </body> tag or if you have a common footer file you just need to put this code in that file immediately before the </body> tag.
That’s it; you are done with installation of Google Analytics for compiled online visitor data. Google takes approximate 24 hours to publish the data of your website visitors. So check the data after 24 hours and you’ll find the data in your account.
In my next post, I’ll try to put some lights on how to use these data for your online success. Any comments, suggestion or feedbacks are welcome.
